After a successful comeback in 2023, the Bridgeport High School Alumni & Friends Foundation is again hosting the annual strawberry sale fundraiser. All proceeds will be utilized to provide scholarships for BHS seniors.
Through May 3, pre-orders can be placed for a half flat (six pints) at $20 each or a whole flat (12 pints) at $40 each. Pickup will be 12-6 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Bridgeport Veterans Memorial parking lot, just off East Main Street.
There will be limited on-site sales available. To ensure you get the berries you need, pre-orders are strongly recommended. As always, the strawberries are purchased through Goots Produce and delivered fresh from the Carolinas.
Orders can be placed and paid for via credit card HERE or by utilizing this QR code.

Alumni Board President Teresa Lunsford said the organization is happy to continue the tradition of the strawberry sale.
“We are excited for the return of the strawberry sale. Last year was a success and various students have benefited from this fundraiser because the money raised goes towards scholarships,” she said. “We changed the pickup location this year for more visibility. These strawberries are delicious. James Goots has been wonderful to help us continue this annual tradition to provide the community with delicious fruit.”
The sale has traditionally been the foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. It was board member and former BHS journalism teacher Alice Rowe who suggested the sale several years ago and it has been embraced by the community. The sale was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic and returned in 2023.
With fundraisers and personal donations, more than $60,000 in college scholarships are awarded by BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation to BHS seniors each year.
The deadline for application for this year’s scholarships is 3 p.m. April 12. Bridgeport High School members of the 2024 graduating class are eligible. The application can be found on the Schoology website.
