Whimsical characters are popping up along Main Street and soon, members of the public can vote for their favorites.

As happens each October, The Associated Businesses of Bridgeport is sponsoring the annual Scarecrow Display, featuring the creations of member businesses.

The deadline for posting scarecrows has been extended through Thurs., Oct. 15. Thereafter, photos of each character will be featured in a Connect-Bridgeport poll, where readers can vote for their favorites. The winner will be announced Halloween weekend and that business will be awarded the traveling trophy to proudly display in its place of business.

Voting will begin sometime on Friday, Oct. 16. In the meantime, enjoy your walk or drive along Main Street and start scoping out your personal picks.
