Honoring Beverly “Cookie” Compton, Julie Tomes, Tom Mellott, Scott Simons and the late William A. Moore, the Bridgeport High School Alumni & Friends Foundation will host its annual Hall of Fame dinner Saturday, Nov. 9 at The O by Oliverio’s.
“The alumni foundation and the Bridgeport community has once again chosen well-deserved individuals,” said BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation President Teresa Lunsford. “We are so pleased to honor them and their accomplishments.”
Starting Sept. 23, tickets will be available for purchase at $50 per person at https://bhs-alumni-friends-foun.square.site. Prospective attendees can also message the alumni board through its Facebook page for a link to purchase.
The Hall of Fame inductees will also be recognized at the Nov. 8 BHS vs. Lincoln football game at Wayne Jamison Field and be honored at a reception following the game.
The BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation mans “The Shack” at every home BHS game. Various BHS apparel – including T-shirts, hoodies, shorts, hats and other merchandise – can be purchased.
Formerly Cookie McGinnis, Compton is a 1975 graduate of Bridgeport High School. Tomes, formerly Julie Jarvis, is a 1963 BHS graduate, and Simons is a 1994 graduate. Mellott is well known for his volunteer work in the Bridgeport community. Moore is a former BHS principal.
Nominees were made by community members and voted upon by the BHS Alumni & Friends Foundation board of directors.
The Hall of Fame is open to BHS graduates and non-BHS graduates. Alumnae must have benefited society or the community in which they live, excelled in their chosen field, or directly contributed to BHS through time or talent. Those not graduating from BHS must have directly benefited BHS through time or talent.
