Starting today, a new business – or rather businesses – will be opening at 8 a.m. at the Charles Pointe Development. And everything was set in motion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce Friday May 30.

Local, county, and state leaders were on hand as Community Care of West Virginia held the event at their new multi-million-dollar, two-story facility in Bridgeport.

Trish Collett, Community Care’s CEO, addressed the large crowd gathered at the facility. She said their group, which offers multiple business services on the medical front under one roof, is thrilled to be opening.

“I’m just excited that we were able to take an almost 23,000 square foot space and turn it into an experience for our patients in and around the community of Bridgeport,” said Collett. “We’re all about meeting the needs of our patients and our communities and the services they need.”

The Community Care site in Bridgeport will offer a pharmacy that will serve the community as well as patients being seen or coming to the site. There is also a walk-in urgent care and a primary care clinic open seven days a week, Collett said

“We also offer behavioral health services. We have board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists and therapists and case managers,” she said. “We’ll be able to provide therapy and behavioral health services from children through adulthood.”

Along with what is already mentioned, this Community Care location will offer substance abuse disorder treatment. The group will have a board-certified addictionologist to work with those facing substance abuse issues.

for the location, Community Care did a major renovation of the former Greater Bridgeport Convention and Visitors Bureau Building that also housed Fairmont State University and the offices of the Mountain East Conference. CCWV acquired the building in January of 2024 at auction with a bid of $3.5 million. Since then, they have acquired a building permit to redo the building to meet their various needs with a $2.3 million renovation. State Senator Ben Queen, who spoke at the event, said between this location and the one in Clarksburg, they have a “real dollar” investment in Harrison County of $12 million.

For those that do not know, CCWV is a non-profit corporation, a federally qualified health center, which manages primary healthcare centers throughout North Central West Virginia and beyond. It previously had a presence in the city as CCWV leased space in the Mitre Corporation building at White Oaks.

“We had just outgrown the space,” said Collett, who pointed to needs on the behavioral health front leading the need to find more space. “We have more behavioral health providers wanting to come work for us to mee the need that we have.”

The building where they will begin doing business today in Bridgeport sits on a 2.06-acre parcel near Charles Pointe’s main entrance. The actual size of the two-story building is 23,379 square feet.

The second floor of the building will be home to behavioral health and addiction medicine space. The first floor will host administrative staff and the pharmacy and urgent care (Care Xpress).

Collett pointed out that Community Care works with United Hospital (WVU Medicine) as well as Mon Health, which is currently building a facility in Charles Pointe. Officials from both state health agencies were in attendance Friday.

Commercial Builders served as the general contractor. Collett thanked The Thrasher Group for its involvement in the project.

Harrison, Lewis, Upshur, Pocahontas, Greenbrier, Randolph, and Clay are among the counties where CCWV has a presence. The company’s base of operations is in Upshur County.

Community Care has 50 school-based health centers in seven counties, including Harrison. The new pharmacy, which was a need Collett said at Charles Pointe, is the ninth one under their banner.
