There will be a new addition to Meadowbrook Mall in the future. And it will not be part of the main structure.
During Thursday’s meeting of the Bridgeport Development Authority, Director of Public Information Andrea Kerr told members that Target will be adding charging stations for electric vehicles.
“Those will be the first in Bridgeport,” said Kerr.
What Kerr was not sure of was whether there were any other charging stations in Harrison County. These, however, will be nestled outside of Target and allow those needing a charge to take advantage of the food and shopping options at the city’s retail hub.
The charging stations are under the Tesla brand. The cost for the 16 charging stalls based on the permit filed with the city on May 21 is $125,000.
Leading Edge Services, Inc., of Virginia is the general contractor. The engineer listed on the plan was Dewberry Engineering, Inc.
The time frame to start the project and complete it was unknown.
Target, she said, will also be updating signage at their mall location. Kerr also said, as has happened in the past with it not happening, that Target contacted her office to announce a major renovation of the interior will be coming. However, there was no permit filed and at this point it was just a phone call.
