For 45 years, Oliverio’s Florist on Main Street has been one of the area’s premiere flower shops. While flowers are still the retailer’s focus, a couple of other items have been added to their shelves. Now carrying fine wines and rare cigars, the store is somewhat of a special events one-stop shop.
“I wanted to add wine because I’m a fan of it and I have a lot of friends that are as well,” said owner Jerry Jolliff. “ … I tried to focus on getting some really good quality out-of-country wines that you cannot get anywhere around here. And for the quality of the wine, they are way less expensive than most California wines.”
In addition to California wines, Jolliff imports wines from Italy. He carries a wide variety of Prisoner wines from St. Helena, Ca., including the popular Red Blend, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Charbono and Chenin Blanc, among others.
Among other featured brands and wineries are Rombauer, Cakebread Cellars, Vietti, Argiano, Banfi, and Orin Swift.
The addition of cigars to his offerings is to offer someone of interest to men.
“I enjoy cigars, and I saw a need for it in our area,” he said. “I wanted to get some really good quality cigars that you probably won’t find much of around here.”
Among brands available for sale are Padron and Davidoff.
As for the item that Oliverio’s is known for, Jolliff shares what is new and popular.
“We just got a new contract with a farm for beautiful English garden roses. We also have local fresh peonies with stock coming every week, along with seasonal flowers starting to bloom,” he said. “And we always have the hydrangea in many colors, as well.”
