While turbulence still surrounds flight service at rural airports nationwide, North Central West Virginia Airport Director Rick Rock shared good news regarding the airport’s destination flights from Allegiant.
During last month’s meeting of the Benedum Airport Authority, the airport’s governing body, Rock announced that Allegiant will be resuming all current destination flights in 2026.
“This is our 12th season working with Allegiant, and we don’t take their service for granted. Many airports across the country would love to have what we have with Allegiant,” said Rock.
Deputy Director Shawn Long was also pleased with the news.
“We’re really happy with Allegiant announcing the return of their summer schedule,” said Long. “We’ve shown consistently our summer schedule does will and that’s a big reason we’ve had such a long relationship with Allegiant.”
Along with the near-year-round flights to Orlando-Sanford International Airport on Sunday and Thursday from Bridgeport, the other three destination flights will have a schedule as follows:
- Tampa/St. Pete starts February 13 and goes through August 17. That flight flies every Monday and Friday.
- Myrtle Beach starts May 21 and goes through August 16. That flight flies every Sunday and Thursday.
- Destin will start on Saturday, June 6. The flight flies every Saturday through August 15.
“We hope to grow our relationship with Allegiant. Rick continuously meets with them to further discussion on growth in new routes and adding frequency to existing routes,” said Long.
