During Monday’s meeting of Bridgeport City Council, the city’s governing body unanimously voted to move this year’s Trick or Treat activities to Thursday, Oct. 30. Council member Jaclyn Rominger and Mayor Robert Matheny both pointed out some of the activities on Friday, Oct. 31 facilitated the need for the move and Council unanimously approved the change.
The date falls on the same day as the Bridgeport High School home football contest against long-time rival Fairmont Senior. It will also be senior night.
Council has moved Trick or Treat in the past, almost always when it falls on Sunday.
The change from Friday to another day has also taken place in the past, primarily due to home football contests and the substantial amount of additional traffic it creates during the same time frame Trick-or-Treat takes place.
As for the time, it will remain the same.
Those gathering candy will have a time window from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
