The Holt family is excited to unveil the next phase of Almost Heaven Barn located on Saltwell Road. The venue – which hosts various celebrations and is utilized heavily for weddings – is adding an open-air chapel to the property.
“The open-air chapel was always on our agenda,” said Angela Holt, co-owner. “We’ve just done everything in phases over the last five years.”
Those phases which have been completed since the venue opened in 2020 have included a spacious upscale barn, a venue house where wedding parties can get ready, and an Airbnb which featured four bedrooms and two full baths. The property also includes outdoor space utilized for outdoor weddings and other events.
“And now the chapel,” Holt said. “I wanted to be able to give our couples more than one option and way in which to get married, so the chapel has always been a dream of mine from the beginning.”
These inspirational photos depict a similar style to what the Holts are building.
“Our open-air chapel will have some changes to add our own personal touches,” Holt said. “It will be white with a black roof and have a similar look.”
Bids are currently being received by contractors.
“Hopefully in the spring, if weather permits, we will break ground,” Holt said.
Almost Heaven Barn is booked for weddings for most of 2025 and even into 2026. There are a few openings for July of this year. Fall has traditionally been a popular time for weddings at the venue, Holt said. Quality experiences have been reported.
“We have always received great feedback from our couples and a lot of them have said they want to get remarried when the chapel is done, as well,” she said.
Holt said she has always wanted the venue to be a one-stop shop for couples getting married.
“We want to have everything here on the property so once they come on Friday, they won’t have to leave until Sunday when their wedding weekend is over,” she said. “All the amenities are included in our top package and the couples have access to everything on the property for the weekend.”
Running Almost Heaven Barn has been most rewarding.
“We build great relationships with our couples and their families during the planning and feel as if we become part of their families,” Holt said. “And now watching many of our couples’ families grow, that is truly the biggest blessing.”
Almost Heaven Barn is located on Saltwell Road between Bridgeport and Shinnston. In addition to weddings and other personal celebrations, the venue is used annually for the Tree Festival in December and the Masquerade Valentines Ball in February.
