Jake Owen’s hit single, “Anywhere with You” suggests picking a spot on the map for an impromptu trip. “I’ll go anywhere/West Virginia, baby I don’t care.”
For those heading to the Mountain State – or who are already here and want to further explore – West Virginia just released a vacation guide, “Almost Heaven Shines Bright.”
The full-color magazine-style brochure breaks it all down – where to find everything from arts and Appalachian culture to rainbow trout, caves, and caverns.
Want to swim, hike, bike, ski, camp, or even “glamp,” the guide has all your options. There is information about our artisans, country stores, breweries, and seasonal treasures – from leaf-peeping and haunted tours to rock climbing, white-water rafting and even stargazing.
State and national parks are listed, as are lakes, ski resorts, and the history of some of our towns. Enlightening both novices and natives, the book offers 112 pages of inspiration.
Included are West Virginia postcards and even a playlist featuring tunes about the Mountain State and those written and performed by West Virginians.
Throughout February, the guides are available at the Bridgeport Visitors Center, 100 Marketplace Avenue in Charles Pointe. Operating hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday.
