It’s that sweet time of year again. Bridgeport High School Alumni & Friends Foundation has opened orders for its annual strawberry sale fundraiser. All proceeds will be utilized to provide scholarships for BHS seniors.

“When the community collectively buys strawberries at our event, it helps cultivate a future with opportunities for our seniors by providing access to education and opportunities for those who might not otherwise be able to pursue their calling,” said Alumni Board President Teresa Lunsford.
Throughout April 30, pre-orders can be placed for a half flat (six pints) at $25 each or a whole flat (12 pints) at $40 each. The pickup will be 12-6 p.m. Friday, May 8 at Bridgeport Veterans Memorial parking lot, just off East Main Street. There will be limited on-site sales available. To ensure you get the berries you need, pre-orders are strongly recommended.
The sale has traditionally been the foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. It was board member and former BHS journalism teacher Alice Rowe who suggested the sale several years ago and it has been embraced by the community.
“We, as a foundation, are so proud to bring back the strawberry sale for another year,” Lunsford said. “The community looks forward to it and we are told they are the best berries around.”
As always, the strawberries are purchased through Goots Produce and delivered fresh from the Carolinas.
