After working out of Weston for a few years, Seth Frazier has moved to Bridgeport. For the past six months, Nocturnal Tattoo Studio has been opened at Platinum Suites at Gabe’s Plaza.
The purpose of the relocation is to bring his artistry to the attention of additional clients. Sketching and drawing is something he’s enjoyed since he was a kid, and he loves the entire design process – from talking with his clients to find out what tattoo they desire – to creating it, then sharing the design with the client.
“If they want, I can make changes and if they don’t like it, I’ll scrap it and start over,” Frazier said. “And every now and then, someone will come in and know exactly what they want.”
He considers himself a Jack of all trades.
“I literally do any style for the most part. If I don’t feel comfortable doing it, I’ll let them know but that doesn’t happen very often,” he said.
His favorite tattoos to do are large; those reflecting realism and in hues of black and gray.
“But I’m also very good at small ones with fine lines and I have a lot of girl clients who get those,” he said.
Although the name of his studio contains the word “Nocturnal,” the studio is open for daytime appointments.
“I’m not open at night. I’m a family man and would rather go home to my kids,” he said. “But I am a night owl and like to stay up late working – drawing stencils. I’ve always loved the nighttime and that’s why I chose it for the name.”
Frazier chose his profession four years ago after graduating from high school and deciding college wasn’t for him.
“I worked at my mom’s restaurant in Jane Lew, but didn’t want to do that my whole life,” he said. “I got an itch to order a tattoo gun and started practicing on fake skin, then on my legs. I ended up getting an apprenticeship in Morgantown from my tattoo artist.”
In 2023, he opened his Lewis County business, and he has loved doing it since.
“I do love it. It doesn’t feel like work. The hours fly by and I get to meet such cool people,” Frazier said.
His decision to work from Platinum Suites was a good one. He likes being part of the youthful community of entrepreneurs and he has goals for the future.
“For now, I’m kind of a little private studio. I’m by appointment only, which makes that a little different from a walk-in shop,” Frazier said. “But my end goal is to have a big shop.”
Frazier’s rate is $140 per hour, and he is confident that his clients will be pleased with his work. Nocturnal Tattoo Studio is located at 102 Thompson Drive, Bridgeport.
