FROM THE MEADOWBROOK MALL
Getting the kids ready for a new school year can be a daunting task. That’s why West Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday is so important to families who want to make the most of their back-to-school shopping haul. From August 1 through August 4, there will be no sales tax on any item of clothing costing $125 or less, instructional materials priced at $20 or less and school supplies priced at $50 or less. Personal computers, laptops and tablets priced at $500 or less are also tax-free. Certain sports equipment costing $150 or less is also exempt.
There’s no limit on the number of items purchased. For example, if a parent buys five shirts and five pants, each priced at $50, the total sales price would be $500. But because each item cost under $125, there would be no sales tax.
Certainly, there are a few limitations. For example, cosmetics, clothing accessories, costume masks, sewing equipment and items used for trade or business are not exempt. For more detailed information on the Sales Tax Holiday, visit this link:
Meadowbrook Mall has a special offer to help parents stretch their dollars even further. From July 21 through August 17, make purchases totaling $250 or more from any combination of mall stores, take the receipts to the Customer Service Center and you’ll get a free $25 mall gift card (while supplies last).
