The 41st annual Vaughn Ritter Friends of Troop 40 Chili Feed is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Benedum Civic Center in downtown Bridgeport.
Those who attend this year and those who have attended in the past get more than just a good meal. Funds raised from the event helps to continue Troop 40’s long-time commitment to the scouting movement and youth development in Bridgeport and the surrounding areas. “As a troop, we do a lot of camping and outdoor activities, which allows the kids to zone in on a lot of their Scout skills. It also allows us as a troop to help do some long distance campouts, like going back to Gettysburg and with summer camp” said Brian Randolph, Scoutmaster of Troop 40.
As has been the case in recent years, the event is drive-thru and carryout only. As noted above, service will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m. or until sold out.
Tickets are $12 per meal. Chili is available with and without beans, and comes with side salad with homemade dressing and a cornbread muffin. Later in the day, depending on the amount of Chili left, gallon-sized containers suitable for freezing will be sold for $60 a gallon.
