The United States has 95,471 miles of shoreline, according to the Website Farandwide.com. They base that information on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The same Website states that the US Census reports 12,383 of them are along the coast. What that means is the rest of the shorelines are along rivers, lakes and resevoirs.

Summersville Lake, as most know, is a reservoir. It spans 2,700 acres.
